The Irish Georgian Society's May Lectures on Classicism and Conservation

The Irish Georgian Society in Dublin are hosting a Lecture on Classicism by the former Pro-Chancellor of University of Dublin and Trinity College - Dr Edward McParland.
In the battle to conserve and appreciate our built heritage the Irish Georgian Society’s ethos of education and support for the owners of period properties continues year on year, with a wide programme of lectures and practical conservation courses.
On May 15 the architectural historian, Dr Edward McParland, former Pro-chancellor of the University of Dublin, will be talking about the language of architectural classicism, from the visual impact of pillars to the use of decorative walls and exotic architectural details to create pleasing buildings.
The talk takes place at the O'Connell Room at the IGS City Assembly House, 58 South William Street, Dublin 2 at 6pm.

Later in the month, on the 21 May, the IGS will be holding a lunchtime lecture which moves from the aesthetic to the practical with a look at Energy Performance in Protected Structures: planning implications and grants. This is the twelfth in a series of thirteen Conserving Your Dublin Period House lectures –but once again open to all and tickets can be bought through the IGS website and their Eventbrite link
