The Irish Georgian Society continues its fantastic annual series of talks this Spring
Conserving your Dublin Period House Course

The IGS teamed up with Dublin City Council a few years ago to provide an affordable annual lecture series to help owners of period properties understand the buildings they were living in and learn more about how to look after them.

Lectures from a team of conservation experts are designed to benefit not only home owners but architects, designers and builders. The primary aim is to ensure a sensitive approach to renovation, particularly concerning Protected Structures, which are protected by law.

The beauty of the IGS talks is you can sign up for the whole series or just join the talks that interest you. Lectures can be enjoyed in person or online.

On Tuesday 25 March Dublin Architectural Conservation Offices, Niahm Kiernan and Mary McDonald, will advise on Grant Applications and how to extend a period building in line with best conservation practice.

On Tuesday 1 April Senior Architect at the National Built Heritage Service, Nicola Matthews will explore period roofs and their repair.

The Course runs until the end of May with lectures normally taking place at 1pm. Some will focus on how to use lime and traditional bricks other will examine decorative iron and plasterwork.
