Portumna Castle is hosting a heritage building event this weekend which will showcase traditional building skills and provide heritage home owners with new ideas to help protect their home for the future.
The show, which takes place in the grounds of the Castle will include live demonstrations by a whole range of crafts men and women from stonemasons to stained glass restorers. There will also be a series of talks by conservation specialists with advice on key issues such as the implications of owning a protected structure, energy conservation and the use of traditional materials. Admission is free and the event, which has been organised by Galway County Council and the Irish Georgian Society, is designed to provide home owners with access to conservation and restoration expertise so that they can help safeguard Ireland's rich architectural heritage.
